Selection and Implementation of a Document Management System for an International Industrial Company
Efficient document management is critical in capital-intensive and highly regulated industries such as energy and industrial operations. Akselera supported an international industrial company with operations on the Norwegian continental shelf in the selection and implementation of a new document management solution, ensuring better governance of both technical and administrative documentation.
Project background and needs
The company operates across several international industrial markets and has extensive petroleum production activities on the Norwegian continental shelf. This places high demands on structured document management, traceability and accessibility of technical and operational documentation.
The existing solution did not sufficiently support the company’s need for efficient document governance and integration with other business systems. The client therefore wanted to conduct a structured selection process for a document management system, while also ensuring a successful implementation of the chosen solution.
Akselera’s role
Akselera supported the client throughout the entire process — from needs assessment and system selection to implementation. The work included:
- mapping of business processes and document flows
- development of test scenarios and test cases
- execution of an RFI process (Request for Information)
- evaluation of vendors and solutions
- contract negotiations
- support in the final solution selection
- project management for the implementation
Through a structured and methodical approach, Akselera helped ensure that the selected solution supported both current operational needs and future requirements for document governance.
Following the evaluation process, ProArc was selected as the document management system.
Implementation of the document management solution
Akselera provided project management for the implementation of the document management system. The solution was configured to manage both technical documentation and administrative documents, and was integrated with the company’s existing ERP and business systems. As part of the implementation, Akselera also supported testing of the solution that was to be deployed within the HR organization.

Through the project, the client established a modern document management solution that supports the company’s operational processes. The new solution provided:
