About the customer

Odfjell Drilling is an international drilling, well service and engineering company listed on Oslo Stock Exchange with 2500 employees. Odfjell Drilling was founded in 1973 but the maritime roots go back to 1914 and the petroleum engagement back to the mid sixties.

Project background and objectives

As part of its IT strategy, the company wanted to move to a more standardized solution. Many system modifications were replaced with standard functionality to increase flexibility and support future improvement initiatives.

This approach also reduced the cost of maintaining customized code and made it easier to deliver quicker, more agile system updates.

After a detailed pre-study of the existing solution, the company decided to upgrade IFS Applications from version 8 to version 10. The goal was to establish a modern, future-ready platform.

Approach, deliverables and value for the customer

Akselera was engaged to assist with contract negotiations, project planning, and day-to-day project management. The project team included representatives from different business areas and companies across the group, together with external partners IFS and Addovation.

Akselera contributed experienced ERP advisors and specialists in areas such as cut-over planning and data migration. The project was managed in close cooperation with Odfjell Technology, IFS, and Addovation, using the established IFS implementation methodology.

For Odfjell Technology, Akselera’s support was key to ensuring a successful outcome. Despite restrictions on travel and new ways of working during the pandemic, the project was delivered as planned. Akselera’s proven experience with complex projects played a decisive role in achieving this success.
