The client is the largest pharmaceutical company in Japan and a global leader in the pharmaceuticals industry, with operations in more than 70 countries worldwide. As a research-driven organization, the company develops innovative treatments in areas such as oncology, gastroenterology, neuroscience, and rare diseases. It maintains a strong focus on research, patient safety, and sustainable access to life-saving medicines.
Project scope
The main objective of the program was to establish a more sustainable forecasting process, improve forecast accuracy, and reduce inventory in the company’s worldwide supply chain.
Akselera’s role, deliverables and results
Akselera advisors provided project management, solution architecture, supply chain planning and forecasting, and process and SAP expertise to the project. Their main contribution to the project was the successful creation of a new forecasting process, including a new organizational set-up and a local demand review implemented worldwide. The forecasting process was fully aligned with the financial planning process. In addition, a supply review process, including use of an Economic Stock Optimizer, was implemented at the company’s manufacturing facilities.
