Akselera has been chosen to assist the development and implementation of an inventory optimization solution for a large supplier of spare parts in the marine industry. Akselera will develop and implement a concept for increasing the global utilization of service part stocks at worldwide service workshops. By introducing algorithms that calculates the feasibility of utilizing local service part stocks for spare part deliveries that alternatively would be supplied from external sources into a central warehouse, the company can offer better availability and shorter leadtimes to customers, while reducing local inventories of slow-moving spare parts and increasing inventory turnover. To ensure the quality of spare parts that may have been stored for a long time in local service workshops, quality inspection will be carried out before dispatching the spare parts to customers. This will free up capital tied to slow-moving inventory and reduce obsolescence costs caused by spare parts remaining unsold after the acceptable shelf life.
